How to Celebrate 30 Years of Marriage with Dani Collins

How to Celebrate 30 Years of Marriage (and launch two books!)

Aloha! My husband Doug and I recently celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary so we treated ourselves to a week in one of our favorite places: Hawaii.

Dani & Doug

We went to Kauai for my sister’s wedding 29 years ago and visited the Big Island and Oahu five years ago. This time we went to Maui and stayed in Kihei, in a condo called Sugar Beach Resort. The sand really did feel like sugar!

We loved having our own condo where we could cook and enjoy happy hour on the lanai, overlooking the bay. Every morning before sunrise, and sometimes in the evenings, the war canoes would paddle by. Sometimes they would pause to get themselves into a certain formation, then they’d be off again, returning within the hour. They were so fun to watch!

We had rented a car so we tended to drive until we saw a beautiful photo opp, then parked to take about a million photos. Then we would drive another ten feet down the road before stopping again. The scenery was spectacular.

The first day we went to Lahaina, which is an historic town that is both beautiful and a little bit touristy. We had a great time scoping out the art galleries and the drive beyond that was full of rewards like this:

As we continued on, however, the roads became hair-raising. The Road to Hana is infamous for its single-lane bridges and hairpin turns, but the views were worth it! ProTip: If you ever visit Hana, plan to stay a night or two. We would have stayed because there’s lots to see there, but we didn’t realize exactly how taxing that drive was. (You can actually fly in which we would probably do if we went again.)

Along with gorgeous flowers and waterfalls and endless jungle and ocean, we saw lots of birds, visited the aquarium, and spotted this cute little guy while walking in one of the state parks.

On our last day, we went back toward Lahaina to visit the Enchanted Forest, which truly felt like a magical wonderland. It’s a short walk from parking along the highway into a grove of old, old trees where spirits do seem to whisper to you.

This trip was a fabulous way to celebrate our 30th anniversary, but I also celebrated the launch of two books that week. I didn’t plan it that way, but The Prospector’s Only Prospect released on March 28th and A Baby to Make Her His Bride had its Harlequin early-release on April 1st.

The Prospector’s Only Prospect is a steamy and emotional historical romance wherein Marigold heads to Denver as a mail-order bride. Grumpy, single-dad Virgil knows she’s not the bride he ordered, but he has three children who need minding while he runs his gold-mining operation. If you like banter, swooning, and found family, add this to your TBR.

Amazon Kindle            Amazon Paperback

A Baby to Make Her His Bride is the fourth and final book in my Four Weddings and a Bride series. If you love forced proximity, check into this one. Vienna is trying to hide from the scandal of her divorce and picks the house where Jasper is already in hiding. They get to know each other (maybe a little too well?) then they’re discovered and things go sideways—especially when she learns she’s carrying his baby! It releases wide on April 25th.

I hope you enjoy this trip to Hawaii, to 1859 Denver, and Chile! You can learn more about my books on my website at danicollins.com. (https://danicollins.com)

    2. You're too modest. Vermont, my home, is an obliging model, too. The photographer still has to decide which ones to post, which ones to crop, etc.
